The expansion of the plastics and recycling plant of MEG Übach-Palenberg (Heinsberg district, North Rhine-Westphalia) began on April 7th with the ground-breaking ceremony. In the presence of the mayor of Übach-Palenberg, Oliver Walter, the ambitious project was launched, with which Schwarz production will further increase its capacity for recycling PET one-way returnable bottles.

In connection with a new extrusion line, the annual capacity of the plant is to be increased by 12,000 tons of PET regranulate, and thus by more than 50 percent. The expansion includes additional storage areas and silos as well as unloading and sorting capacities for the recycling process. Appropriate emission control measures, such as noise barriers, are also part of the project.

In addition, the social wing and parking areas will be expanded for the employees, as more than 30 new jobs will be created. Corresponding job advertisements, mainly in the areas of technology and quality, are now published on www.jobs.schwarz-produktion.com.

“We are convinced that our material cycle provides important impetus in the area of sustainable beverage packaging. Our particularly light non-returnable PET bottles made from 100% recycled material are now an equally ecological alternative to other packaging. That's why we continue to invest in research and development and in the expansion of our infrastructure," says René Witter, Managing Director Plastics at Schwarz Produktion.
