Most clear packaging tubes produced today are made from PETG, Propionate, Acrylic or Polycarbonate – materials classified under recycling stream 7. These materials are not currently recycled and often end up in landfills…rather than being reused or recycled.
"Our customers are constantly demanding more environmentally-friendly packaging," said Jeff Barket, Director of Sales & Marketing at VisiPak. "By developing an industry first manufacturing process that could utilize PET plastic material, we are not only meeting these demands, but also meeting sustainability goals."
PET is the most recycled plastic in the world. It is the material used to produce water bottles, soda and beverage bottles as well as many food containers. Most households across the U.S. and around the world can place these items in their recycling bins. The new containers are much more likely to be recycled than packaging made from other clear plastics.
To make this recycling capability apparent, each Recyclapak features an embossed PET Recycling logo on the base of the finished part.
