P.E.T. Engineering, a company specialized in the design and industrialization of PET containers, successfully concludes the project SUSPACK “SUStainable PACKaging through PET reduction and alternative materials”.
Thanks to the contribution of 180 thousand Euros for the financing of industrial research and experimental development (CRO part POR FESR 2007-2013 Action 5.1.1) and the cooperation of international partners such as Novapet, P.E.T Engineering has been able to work on the study and industrialization of lightweight preforms with barrier materials and BIOPET.
The reduction of the environmental impact was assessed by comparing the life cycle of the products developed with the existing ones: the LCA savings showed, depending on the size, between 10% and 30% in terms of kg CO2 eq.
P.E.T. Engineering is thus consolidating its leadership in the development of preforms and ultra-light containers with both standard PET and recycled and bio materials; in support of this commitment the company has also purchased an injection molding machine that will allow to make preform protypes in house to support this process.
