On August 23, 2010, FM Global gave the Sidel Group HPR certification for its new industrial plant in Beijing (China). FM Global is a globally recognized insurance company in the industry specializing in risk prevention services.
An industrial site is HPR-certified when all of the recommendations issued by the insurance company in terms of construction, installation and fire protection are met, so that the likelihood of risk of financial and industrial losses is less than the market standard. This certification includes both natural risks (storms, earthquakes, floods) and industrial risks (fire, etc.).
HPR certification is a sign of the Sidel Group’s commitment to complying with the best practices in effect within the Group for risk prevention. This represents a guarantee of business continuity in high-risk situations for customers and provides a safe environment for Sidel staff. In keeping with the company’s sustainability efforts, Sidel’s Beijing plant features a green design that is energy conscious and benefits from the recycling of its natural resources. At the heart of the facility’s architectural concept is a design that reduces environmental impact and systems to conserve water and electricity.
This award was presented to the management and staff of Sidel Beijing in the presence of Mr Chris Turton, Operations Vice President, FM Global, and Sid Johari, Executive Vice President Industrial Operations, Sidel Group.
For Mart Tiismann, Sidel Group Chairman and CEO, our Beijing production site offers our Chinese customers a unique opportunity to help them conquer a market whose growth rate is unmatched anywhere in the world. This distinction confirms that our China plant is managed in line with the world’s highest quality standards. This plant is Sidel’s showcase for lean manufacturing and quality excellence. The products we are producing here are the most advanced in Sidel’s portfolio and the most advanced in our industry – because that is what our Chinese customers expect from us.”
Opened in late 2008, Sidel Beijing’s 40,000-m² site is the Group’s most recent plant and its first multiproduct plant: from blow molders to palletizers, all machines in a complete line can be assembled there. Nearly two years after its inauguration, the plant has delivered more than 70 machines including Combis, blow molders, fillers, mixers, conveyors and cap feeders.
