Dirk Scheibner was appointed managing director of JSC Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plastics Machinery with headquarters in Moscow, effective 1 May 2018. He succeeds Alexander Votinov, who has been managing director of the Russian subsidiary of Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plastics Machinery GmbH since 2010. The Russian subsidiary was founded in 2003.
Prior to his work for the German-Japanese injection moulding machinery manufacturer, Scheibner worked as a key sales executive for investment and industrial goods. “We are delighted that we acquired Dirk Scheibner, a proven expert of the CIS and CEE markets,“ says Gerd Liebig, CEO of Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Group. “Initially, he will focus on tapping into what we consider Eurasia’s vast market potential and on the advancement of our service structures in this region.“
More than 2,000 installed Sumitomo (SHI) Demag machines are currently serviced by staff at the subsidiary’s Moscow headquarters and at service points in Nizhny Novgorod and St. Petersburg. “It is the high reliability of our machines, the pre-emptive maintenance and fast spare parts supply that are rated very highly among Russian customers from growth markets such as packaging, agriculture, automotive, food and construction materials. These benefits are a competitive edge that should not be underestimated,“ Scheibner explains. In this market, Sumitomo (SHI) Demag has also identified considerable potential for energy-efficient, highly productive all-electric injection moulding machines. “Long service lives and cost-efficient operation are the number one priority for virtually all investment decisions in Russia,“ Scheibner continues, ”and our IntElect series is the perfect fit.“
