Until now, most wide-mouth PET containers have been produced on single-stage machines. Now SIPA’s new two-stage SFL WM machine empowers wide-mouth PET container producers to respond faster to changing customer demands with cost effective flexibility.
Building on Single-Stage Success
SIPA already leads the way in single-stage equipment for wide-mouth PET containers; its ECS machines feature unusually high cavitation, which results in advanced output (up to 15,000 containers/hour). To bring PET producers an added competitive advantage of increased flexibility, SIPA has applied its benchmark SFL linear blow molding technology—already highly successful in narrow-neck bottles—to wide-mouth designs.

Just-In-Time Flexibility
Unlike single-stage machines, the two-stage SFL WM is designed for the frequent format changes necessary to supply Just In Time (JIT) delivery. Changeover times on SIPA’s SFL reheat stretch-blow molding machines are much shorter. Molds and preform carriers can be changed in around 40 minutes—five to six times faster than typical changeover times for single-stage equipment.

Output Advantages
Even the competition’s best single-stage machines produce only about 250 containers per cavity, per hour, and many models have no more than eight cavities. SIPA’s SFL WM reheat unit produces 1,500 containers per cavity, per hour. So one SFL WM can do the work of several single-stage machines, saving space, energy, auxiliaries, maintenance, labor—and costs.
