Sidel strives to be A Better Match for Services. In 2011, Sidel invested in a new competence audit program, two new world class technical training centers and further global training solutions with the aim of helping customers worldwide to get the most out of their equipment.    Sidel has developed its new “competence audit” program to satisfy the increasing demand for targeted training on bottling lines. The audit looks at operators and maintenance staff from both a theoretical and a practical point of view. Based on a profile for each employee, Sidel specialists evaluate them on the job. Each client receives a comprehensive report with the detailed results for each employee as well as a recommendation for a custom-designed training plan. The training sessions are held either on site or at one of Sidel’s training centers, which have grown in numbers over the past year. Sidel now operates seven training centers worldwide, training over 5,000 people each year. Pursuing its goal to offer even better training solutions to its customers, Sidel inaugurated a new training lab at its site in Parma, Italy. An extra 150 square meters were added to the existing training center to house the latest generation of standard and aseptic sub-assemblies for hands-on operations. The new space is equipped with two automation training stations, one room for training on aseptic fillers and one for different types of filling technologies and valves. Approximately 8,000 kilometers further East, in Beijing, Sidel opened its new Technical Training Center for applications such as sensitive products, water and carbonated soft drinks. The 900 square-meter facility includes blow molding machines, a laboratory with simulation benches for the configuration of standard and aseptic fillers, and a Combi automation desk for the reproduction of machine synchronization requirements. The center is completed by a fully equipped laboratory and three classrooms, including a virtual reality room where trainees can interact with projected models. Even though the center opened just 10 months ago, over 150 trainees from 39 different clients have already been welcomed.40 years of training experience“By expanding our training offer, we are able to better respond to the needs of our customers and technicians. They help us to increase the quality of services offered by all our training centers worldwide,” said Luigi Armani, Director for Central Training and Technical Competence Development. Based on 40 years of experience, Sidel assists operators, maintenance technician, mechanics, supervisors and production managers in reducing machine downtimes, minimizing maintenance costs, increasing employee motivation and improving product quality. With the launch of its new interactive training catalogs, Sidel offers customers a user-friendly access to its versatile training program. Participants can now plan and schedule their training sessions according to their individual requirements. In addition to the standard portfolio of training courses for customers, Sidel also offers seminars for a mixed audience made up of employees from different companies. Participants not only benefit from Sidel’s long-term expertise; they can also share their knowledge with participants from other cultural backgrounds. Throughout the year, different seminars are scheduled in Sidel’s training centers worldwide. The trainings focus on both theoretical and practical aspects of packaging machinery. Each seminar is offered several times a year in five locations where hands-on demonstrations on equipment are available.
