Some 7.8 billion people are living on our planet – almost 60 percent more than in 1987, when the United Nations’ Brundtland Commission established the definition of sustainable development that is still valid today: The needs of the present must not be at the expense of future generations. The RKW Group has been committed to this guiding principle for decades, and aligns its corporate activity accordingly.
But sustainability proves itself in action. As a leading manufacturer of excellent film solutions, RKW is committed to recycling management, for example the increased use of recycled materials, the development of easily recyclable products and the protection of natural resources. Other important aspects of RKW's sustainability strategy are the reduction of the CO2 footprint of production, products and the entire supply chain and thus ultimately the conservation of natural resources.
In addition to the ecological aspects, sustainability at RKW also has an economic dimension. This includes, among other things, the cultivation of long-standing, successful customer relationships, quality and reliability as the basis for economic success, and the reinvestment of profits in the company. The pillar of social responsibility includes the creation and preservation of jobs, comprehensive occupational health and safety protection, and the training and further education of employees.
In its annual Sustainability Report, the RKW Group publishes which measures are actually implemented. During the coming weeks, we will be presenting a number of selected initiatives with a focus on specific areas on the website www.rkw-group.com and on our LinkedIn and Facebook channels. Together they form an essential part of RKW's business mission: "With sustainable film solutions, we enable our customers to improve the daily life of consumers all over the world.”
