PFF: A reduced plastic, fully recyclable, hybrid pack
PFF has added a new product to its range of food packaging. IMPAC-T is a fully recyclable hybrid pack. It comprises of a reduced weight 95mm rPET plastic inlet, and a printable card wrap that are easily separated for recycling. IMPAC-T can be used for all food applications, where sealed in freshness and strong branding are essential.
The business has invested in new process technology to bring the lighter weight food grade 95mm IMPAC-T packaging option to market. The technology requires less plastic than equivalent PET packaging and enables increased use of post-consumer recycled (PCR) material, optimising the resources used.
IMPAC-T uses a minimum of 50% post-consumer recycled PET and up to 100% PCR card with any virgin board content sourced from certified sustainable forestry.
In addition, the forming of the IMPAC-T pack is a more efficient single-stage process than traditional card wrap processes, therefore, further reducing PFF’s carbon footprint.
PFF Group sales director Ian Smith said: “We are committed to reducing the amount of plastic that is used in packaging. Our new product demonstrates PFF’s credentials as an independent UK food packaging manufacturer, committed to the recycling circular economy.”
