Lauffen am Neckar-based Extricom GmbH, one of the leading manufacturers of PET recycling plants, laid the foundation for a successful 2013 before the year had even begun. Specifically, on account of the large number of orders received in the last quarter of 2012, about 400,000 tonnes per year of postconsumer PET flakes will ultimately be recycled into pellets that meet FDA and EFSA requirements using RingExtruder technology.

At the same time, the company reports a strong demand for PET recycling plants based on the so-called bottle-to-bottle process, especially where customers are planning high-capacity projects. Currently the company serves this segment with standard plant capacities of up to 4200 kg/h or 100 metric tons per day ("bottle-to-bottle").

PET recycling for global outperformance

Mr. Markus Blach, managing director of Extricom GmbH, emphasises the global distribution of the various projects. In 2013, Extricom GmbH will be supplying plants to customers in Europe, Asia and South America.

One PET project that particularly stands out is the one being addressed by the engineering company Uhde Inventa-Fischer for its Indian customer JBF Industries Ltd.. The Melt-To-Resin (MTR®) plant with a total name plate capacity of 432,000 tonnes PET a year is co-located with BP site in Geel, Belgium and includes a continuous Flakes-To-Resin (FTR®) recycling line with a capacity of 54,000 tonnes-per-year. This plant will be the first in Europe to embrace a new trend, i.e. adding a portion of rPET flakes straight to a virgin PET reactor.

These impressive figures show that the patented RingExtruder technology has gained global acceptance, especially when it comes to large-scale projects.
