Presence abroad to be substantially upsized
Krones AG, Neutraubling, Germany, is building a new plant in Eastern Europe. Following detailed analyses, Debrecen in Hungary emerged as a suitable location for a production facility, which is scheduled to begin operation in early 2019. 500 new jobs are planned.
The globally operating line manufacturer regards it as extremely important to upsize its capacities abroad. The choice of Debrecen as a location was dictated primarily by the good logistical links, and the relevant infrastructure, plus the highly qualified specialised staff available in the region and the possibility of collaborating with the university there. At the facility in Debrecen, Krones will be manufacturing machine components and also assembling line parts. The total investment involved is more than 40 million euros in the years from 2018 to 2020. This figure includes not only the site and the building, but also the requisite machinery and plant equipment.
Debrecen
Debrecen is the country’s second-largest city, with its own university, and constitutes the economic and educational centre of eastern Hungary – with significant ambitions for further growth. Debrecen possesses an international airport and is just two hours’ drive away from the capital Budapest.
