The impact of the Brexit
Depending on the agreement of the future trade relationship between the UK and the EU impacts of the Brexit differ. A soft Brexit would mean that far-reaching free trade between the EU and the UK continues to exist while a hard Brexit would mean that the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO) will be applied and the UK will leave the EU Single Market and Customs Union.
With Lightweight Containers opening a new production facility in Seaham in the UK in Q2-2018 the impact and so the threat of the Brexit has been minimized for all UK customers. Opening a production facility in the UK offers more benefits.
The benefits of a UK production facility
Our kegs will be high-quality UK-made products. With this facility we can produce, keep stock closer to our customers and cut lead times and reduce transport costs. The shorter logistical distances help to reduce the carbon footprints of both Lightweight Containers and our customers. Taken into account that a KeyKeg already consists of 35% recycled materials Lightweight Containers is working hard to its goal reducing the negative impact on and contributing to a better environment.
