La Seda de Barcelona will be recycling more than 10% of its annual PET production

The Executive Committee of LA SEDA DE BARCELONA, meeting today, has agreed to integrate the management of the Group’s recycling plants into a single company. The objective of this reorganization is to consolidate the integration process in which the company is involved, following the recent acquisitions, ensuring efficiency in the management and maximizing the profitability of the company towards its shareholders. With this decision, LA SEDA DE BARCELONA, currently a European leader within the recycled PET sector, aims at recycling more than 10% of its annual PET production, which means a total recycling capacity of 140.000 tonnes per year in the next years. The new business company will be integrating all its recycling plants, namely the ones in Spain (Balaguer), in France (Beaune and Perpignan), and in Italy (Acerra). The scope of the recycled PET does take into account large reuse sectors such as textiles, packaging materials and reusable bottles to produce new ones, bottle to bottle. The agreement of the Executive Committee is also included in the framework of the sustainability and commitment policy with the environment of the company. In this regard, LA SEDA DE BARCELONA will focus its management efforts around the recycling world, not only in its industrial activity –as PET is a 100% recyclable product and low in CO2 generation along its production process- but in the promotion of the recycling culture.
