La Seda de Barcelona has signed an agreement with the townhall of El Prat de Llobregat to undertake a study of emission of CO2

LA SEDA DE BARCELONA has signed an agreement with the Townhall “El Prat de Llobregat”, to start up the “CO2 Project” . La Seda, as an emblematic company in the area, has alwayss maintained a high commitment to the community of EL Prat, as well as excellent relations with this institution.The Project CO2 is included as part of its policy of sustainability and respect for the environment and, in recent years, in combating climate change. This is a program that aims to analyze CO2 emissions of all activities of the Townhall - buildings, processes, vehicles, etc. .- as well as undertake a study on possible technical solutions of emissions’ compensation.The ICTA (Instituto Ciencia y Tecnología Ambiental), Institute of Science and Environmental Technology of the “Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona”, will be conducting the technical study of “CO2 Project” and La Seda will provide resources to implement the programme, scheduled to run for one year.Last April, the company launched a new polygeneration plant in El Prat de Llobregat with which a reduction in energy costs by 30% will be achieved - about 3 million euros a year- and primary energy savings and emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere by 15%, a figure that reduces CO2 emissions of approximately 6,000 tons a year.
