La Seda de Barcelona adds international experience to its Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of La Seda de Barcelona, which is meeting today in El Prat de Llobregat, has appointed by cooptation Messrs. Marco Jesi, Dr.Volker Trautz and Leslie Van de Walle as new members of the Board. These new appointments are joining from today the Company’s top governing body as independent Board Directors. They provide a proven international experience in the chemical, consumer goods and packaging sector. In this sense, LSB’s Chairman Carlos Moreira da Silva has stated “I am very satisfied with the appointment of these new Board Directors, as they offer a broad professional experience and independence to the Company. I hope their joining the Board of Directors provides an improved leadership capacity for redefining the Group strategically as well as a challenge to the Management Board in its implementation”. During the Board of Directors meeting it has also been agreed to set up a Strategic Committee, aimed at controlling and posing challenges to the Company’s governing body. This new Committee will be made up by the three new Directors, Ms. Sandra Mª Santos, current Board Director and LSB’s Chairman. Mr. Marco Jesi, with a degree in law by the University of Milan, has developed his professional career in several international companies of the consumer industry, such as Unilever, Johnson Wax, Krafts Foods, emphasizing his position as President Europe of PEPSICO Group. In addition, Mr. Jesi will be a member of LSB’s Strategic Committee. Dr. Volker Trautz will also be participating in the Strategic Committee and be part of the Nominations and Retributions Committee. He has a Ph.D. in Chemistry by the University of Stuttgart (Germany). Dr. Volker Trautz has a proven professional record in the chemical sector, holding relevant positions in BASF Group, as well as President and CEO positions in BASSEL and LYONDELLBASELL INDUSTRIES, the third largest chemical company in the world. Mr. Leslie Van de Walle will be part of the Strategic Committee and assume the Presidency of the Nominations and Retributions Committee, replacing Mr. Carlos Soria, who has chaired this Committee so far. He is a graduate at the International Business School HEC in Paris, has been CEO of REXAM Group and held other relevant positions in multinational companies, such as Shell Eurpe, as President of Oil Products. He previously held international management positions in United Biscuits, Cadbury Schweppes and Danone Group, among other international companies. Mr. Leslie Van de Walle is at present non executive President of the multinational SIG, European leader in marketing external and internal insulations and a specialist in building products.
