Jomar to debut two new injection blow molding machines at Germany's K show this fall

Pleasantville, NJ, USA

Jomar Corporation will exhibit two new Injection Blow Molding (IBM series) machines at the K Show in Düsseldorf, Germany, October 27 to November 3, 2010 (Hall 14, Stand A32): the Model 85S HYBRID and the Model 20.Jomar will also be introducing the Model 20 at K. It runs small bottles in PET, PVC, BAREX, COC and COP resins. The machine can run all of the conventional resins also. The Model 20 produces up to 4 cavities of a 50 ml bottle in the engineered resins and up to 6-8 cavities on dropper bottles using LDPE. The number of cavities and cycle time will always depend on the size of the bottle. Jomar recommends bottles up to 50 ml when using engineered resins. The Model 20 follows Jomar's unique design utilizing the vertical plastifier. Its compact design allows for low cost operation. At K, the machine will demonstrate COP resin.Jomar's new 85S HYBRID Injection Blow Molding machine features an electric screw drive rather than a hydraulic drive unit. Energy consumption is reduced by 36% compared with the standard Jomar machine that has the vertical plastifier and by 50% compared with a reciprocating screw machine.   The new 85S HYBRID features an electric screw drive rather than a hydraulic drive unit. The electric screw drive, incorporated with Jomar's accumulator system, enables reduction from the standard 75 HP motor down to a 30 HP motor. Energy consumption is reduced by 36% compared with the standard Jomar machine that has the vertical plastifier and by 50% compared with a reciprocating screw machine. These energy savings were documented by a third party electrical consulting firm, which took readings from the 85S HYBRID and from a comparable Jomar hydraulic machine. At K, the 85S HYBRID will demonstrate a 10 cavity, 4 ounce round bottle made from clarified polypropylene. The production rate is approximately 3,600 bottles per hour. This resin is extremely clear and may be substituted for PET in some cases, according to Jomar's President, William A. Petrino.
