INVISTA, one of the world’s largest integrated polymers and fibers producers, will exhibit its broad portfolio of PET polymers, intermediate feedstocks, chemical intermediates, film products, and specialty polymers available through its Polymer and Resins business. The products will be displayed at NPE 2009 in the INVISTA booth, number W135023, June 22-26 in Chicago.  INVISTA Polymer and Resins is committed to creating exceptional value for its customers through market insight, innovation, and a portfolio of engineered products to meet their diverse needs. The business offers a wide array of polymers including clear and filled resins; homo- and co-polymers tailored for barrier technologies; functional fiber options; spunbond nonwoven polymers; bulk continuous filament resins; and various custom polymers to meet a diverse set of needs and performance criteria.  “Our innovations, along with our highly diversified product portfolio in polyester polymers, continue to allow our customers to successfully create high-performance polyester-based products,” said Holger Jung, INVISTA’s vice president of polyester resins & intermediates for the U.S. and Canada.  “Our goal is to work with customers to optimize product performance, creating higher value for their products and our product portfolio.”  In addition, INVISTA’s PET packaging resins product line is designed to be reused, reclaimed or recycled in available PET recycling chains.  INVISTA has significant experience in PET recycling, including a recycle business unit devoted to post-industrial and post-consumer recycling.    “At INVISTA, we constantly strive to expand our capabilities and invite convertors and brand owners to work with us to envision, conceptualize, and ultimately commercialize new technologies to improve product quality,” added Jung.Owning approximately 1,000 unique pending or granted U.S. patents, INVISTA remains committed to innovation. With its extensive product and process know-how, INVISTA’s technical staff can help define the best operating conditions for their customers’ specific application and process needs.   Polyester products being featured at NPE 2009 include the Polyclear® Conserve™ PET, PERFORMA™ PET film and sheet product line, and PolyShield® resin.   Polyclear® Conserve™ PET is a polyester polymer that contains up to 20 percent tertiary post-consumer recycled PET and features exceptional color and clarity.  Polyclear® Conserve™ PET is suitable for use in container applications including bottled water, carbonated soft drinks, juices, sports drinks, teas, food products and household goods and cleaners.  In addition to using Polyclear® Conserve™ PET, many of INVISTA’s customers blend additional post-consumer recycled PET flake at the point of manufacture and can achieve greater loading of recycled content than would be possible using the combination of virgin PET and post-consumer recycled PET. PERFORMA™ PET film and sheet can be manufactured to meet a variety of applications for consumer and pharmaceutical packaging markets, including blister, clamshell, flexible, print and folding carton applications.  Some PERFORMA™ PET products may be used in certain food packaging applications that comply with the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act.  With its co-extrusion capabilities, INVISTA can tailor a product specifically to its customers’ individual needs, be it through marrying different PET types in its product structure or adding performance enhancing additives, as needed.PERFORMA™ PET film and sheet is manufactured from INVISTA’s base polyester resins.  Standard film and sheet products available include PERFORMA™ A PET, a coextruded APET film and sheet; PERFORMA™ S PET, a coextruded G/A/G film and sheet; PERFORMA™ G PET, a coextruded G/G/G APET film and sheet; and PERFORMA™ R PET, a coextruded A/R/A film and sheet containing up to 25 percent post-consumer recycled content.  Custom film and sheet products are available upon request.  PolyShield® resin monolayer PET barrier technology was designed to meet the shelf life and barrier requirements of oxygen-sensitive food and beverages, including beer, juice, and wine.  PolyShield® resin technology prevents oxidation of the product, which can affect taste, and provide more than one year of shelf life.PolyShield® resin features active oxygen scavenging and passive carbonation barrier when combined with MXD6and provides outstanding clarity for tinted bottles.PolyShield® resin-MXD6 blends can be processed on standard PET preform and bottle manufacturing equipment with only minor changes and minimal investment.
