Husky Injection Molding Systems today announced that at Chinaplas 2010 it is demonstrating its capabilities as a leading global partner for complete beverage packaging solutions. Located at Booth E2F01, Husky is showcasing the range of tooling, systems and services it offers to help customers in Asia be more successful.
“Over the years, Husky has built an extensive infrastructure in Asia to deliver responsive, local service in our customer’s language and time zone. This, combined with more than 50 years in the plastics industry, has allowed us to develop solutions to meet the needs of experienced producers, as well as manufacturers just entering the market,” said Gerardo Chiaia, President, Husky Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East and Africa. “Chinaplas gives us the opportunity to showcase the solutions we offer to help customers expand their businesses and bring products to market faster.”
Husky’s commitment to investing in local infrastructure allows the company to effectively serve customers in this market by providing shorter lead times and more responsive local service, backed by proven industry experience. The company opened its first mold manufacturing facility in Japan in 1971. In 1996, Husky opened the Yokohama Technical Center to conduct product demonstrations and customer technical training. Husky has also expanded its Shanghai Technical Center several times since its opening in 2004.
Complete system solutions for the beverage packaging market
In comparison to other suppliers who only provide the machine or hot runner, Husky offers a complete turnkey system, including machines, PET molds, hot runners, auxiliaries, software and after-sale services. Customers benefit from working with one experienced supplier, who delivers an optimized, efficient workcell with components specifically designed to work together.
Visitors to the Husky booth will see the range of solutions the company offers to the PET preform and closure markets to help customers produce a complete, high quality beverage package that is less expensive to manufacture. Two systems are in operation at the show, including a HyPET™ 400 preform molding system and HyCAP™ 300 system for beverage closure manufacturing.
HyPET 400 – PET preform packaging system optimized for beverage applications
HyPET is Husky’s line of flexible preform injection molding systems with the industry’s highest levels of productivity at high or low outputs. The 96-cavity HyPET 400 system with High Performance Package (HPP) is running a 13.3 gram EcoBase™ preform at a cycle time of 7.0 seconds. HPP is the result of refinements to the entire HyPET preform system and typically reduces cycle times by 15%, lowering the overall cost of PET packaging.
Also showcased are Husky’s PET mold refurbishment services, which maintain best-in-class preform quality for customers through regular mold maintenance and refurbishment. In addition, Husky is showing its capabilities for a wide variety of beverage applications, including water, carbonated soft drinks, beer, wine and tea.
Machine: HyPET 400 HPP P120/130 E120
Mold: Husky 96-cavity HPP preform mold
Part: 13.3 gram EcoBase preform with 1881 finish
Resin: Far Eastern Textiles CB602A
Cycle time: 49,000 parts/hour at 7.0 second cycles
Husky auxiliaries: DR824HT resin dryer; H7000 resin hopper; PD7-FC3-LD25 resin loading; DSH3000 mold dehumidifier for HPP; TB650 T-belt conveyor; DSH5001 blower for HPP; MRM 304/2 air cooled chilled water system + GP1/15 booster pump
HyCAP 300 – High output system for beverage closure manufacturing
The HyCAP system is the result of refinements throughout the entire injection molding workcell that maximize speed, reliability and efficiency. The 72-cavity HyCAP 300 system is producing PCO 1881 CSD closures weighing 2.3 grams at 3.5 second cycles. The lightweight closures help beverage closure manufacturers increase the overall sustainability of their operations while significantly reducing resin costs.
Husky will also be showing application examples for a range of caps and closures for beverage, personal care, detergent and food packaging.
