Greiner Packaging is investing in innovative printing technology: Using a new servo-controlled UV-colour screen printing machine means that the decoration variants for plastic bottles have been significantly extended. Bisphenol-free baby bottles, Kavodrink bottles and containers with complex shapes can be printed individually and to a high standard of quality.
The Austrian packaging producer Greiner Packaging has further enlarged its wide range of decoration technology. Employing a new servo-controlled UV-colour screen printing machine means that plastic bottles of any shape can be printed.

Günter Ausserwöger, Head of Division Kavo at Greiner Packaging, declares: “Our new screen printing machine is designed for four-colour printing with an additional spot colour and white. The servo control system of the versatile machine allows for the printing of containers with complex shapes. Round or square – any bottle shape can be decorated using this method.” For screen printing UV-curing inks are used. They do not contain solvents and so they protect the environment.
Innovation leader in baby bottles
During the last few years Greiner Packaging has established itself as the leading producer of bisphenol A-free baby bottles. First of all plastics, such as PP (polypropylene), PA (polyamide) and PES (polyethersulphone) are used for production. The baby bottles are food-safe, boil-proof, dishwasher-proof, and can be steam-sterilised. Ausserwöger underlines the added-value offered in this sector by Greiner Packaging: “Baby bottles are a very sensitive product. An ever increasing number of customers are withdrawing production from Asia searching for a trustworthy and reliable producer in Europe. We are meeting these challenges with an overall solution from a single source. Baby bottles for our customers are decorated using high-quality screen printing and are packed before delivery.” |
New design opportunities for Kavodrink bottles
Another large area for the applicaton of the new printing technology is Kavodrink bottles. Greiner Packaging produces them in the dimensions of 500, 750 and 1,000ml. The Kavodrink bottles can be refilled and offer several practical benefits. For example, they can be opened and closed with one hand, they can be cleaned easily – also in the dishwasher – and are very sturdy. These properties make the Kavodrink bottles the ideal companion at and outside work, during sports and leisure.
