CCME’s current priorities in support of that vision are to:
- increase waste reduction and resource recovery, including plastic and organic waste
- contribute to the transition toward a circular economy in Canada
- promote approaches that shift responsibility from taxpayers to producers and users
- reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the waste sector
- improve waste management in rural, remote and northern communities
The delivery of waste reduction and recovery activities is coordinated by CCME's Waste Reduction and Recovery Committee (WRRC).
