This is a unique collaboration across leading players in the entire value chain for recycled plastic. In this way, the utilization rate of plastic waste from Danish households is significantly increased in one fell swoop. This type of collaboration has not been seen before in Denmark, and is in itself an innovation in the ambition to reduce the amount of plastic waste. Through this collaboration the companies increase the recycling of citizens' plastic waste by giving them their plastic waste back as new packaging.
The companies are Nopa Nordic A/S, Schela Plast A/S, Aage Vestergaard Larsen A/S and Dansk Affald A/S.
This collaboration to create concrete environmental progress was started more than a year ago, when Nopa Nordic demanded packaging in recycled material based on Danish household-sorted plastic. Consumers' wishes for new packaging set in motion a major development work between the above partners, which has now resulted in the new packaging. It will meet a great need at a time when everyone has their eyes set on sustainable solutions.
"With this project, we want to contribute to the green transition and are proud to have reached the goal, so that millions of plastic bottles in the coming years will consist of plastic waste from citizens' waste containers," says management of the four partners. They all emphasize that an open and innovative collaboration between companies, each with its own expertise, is the way forward for the development of more environmentally friendly Danish products.
Schela Plast, which has produced the packaging, has been an important partner in the project due to their extensive knowledge of blow molding of household-sorted plastic from abroad. They expect that the production of recycled plastic from Denmark can become an even larger segment.
Aage Vestergaard Larsen A / S is a producer of the granulate in recycled plastic. They have invested significantly in this initiative and expect that the market for Danish household-sorted plastic will increase considerably in the coming years. The project has already shown that demand is very much present, which is why Aage Vestergaard Larsen wants to increase production capacity.
Damifos' role is to collect and sort the plastic of private households from the municipalities. The goal is to prove that valuable products can be created from plastic waste by using sorting technology at Damifos' plant in Denmark.
