CHT Group publishes Sustainability Report 2021

Tübingen, Germany

The international group of companies pursues transparent communication and therefore publishes its current Sustainability Report 2021. The focus is on personnel development, energy and water consumption as well as company-wide emissions and waste behavior.

Thematic highlights in this report are the group-wide projects for climate protection as well as the sustainable products and solutions, which present the sustainability commitment and the innovative strength of the CHT Group.

As an internationally operating foundation-owned company, the CHT Group is one of the leading suppliers of sustainable chemical products and solutions for a wide range of applications and industries. Therefore, open and transparent communication with all stakeholders, in particular also with customers and suppliers, has traditionally been important to the group. This is illustrated first and foremost by the company's comprehensive sustainability reporting. The current edition of the annual CHT Sustainability Report for the period from January to December 2021 is now available.

Based on this sustainability report, the CHT Group documents online all activities with which it has fulfilled its responsibility as a future-oriented and sustainable company in 2021. The report has been prepared in accordance with the GRI standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) based on the core option.

The focus is on personnel development, energy, and water consumption, as well as company-wide emissions and waste behavior, and how the company is dealing with future challenges.

Of particular note here is the group-wide project on climate protection:

  • With the "Green Deal", the EU Commission is pursuing ambitious climate targets, in the implementation of which the CHT Group is actively involved as part of the VCI initiative "chemistry4climate".
  • The Group's goal is to become climate-neutral by 2045. To underpin this ambitious target, at the end of 2021 the CHT Group signed up to the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) to meet the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement and committed to the 1.5°C target.
  • For 2021, the first carbon footprint (Scope 1+2) was prepared for the CHT Group, which now serves as the basis for greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets.

It is particularly remarkable that 65% of the CHT Group's sales in 2021 were generated with sustainable products. For this, over 88% of the strategic raw material volume was sourced from suppliers classified as sustainable.

Also noteworthy in the report are the current work topics and outlooks, as well as sustainable products and solutions for CHT customers, which showcase the Group's commitment to sustainability and innovation. For example, the numerous concepts and optimally matched auxiliaries with which energy and resource savings can be implemented for various textile application fields. They vividly and exemplarily demonstrate the efforts to achieve the company's own sustainable and strategic goals, which are derived from the United Nations Development Goals (SDGs).

In the Sustainability Report 2021, the CHT Group presents its contribution to sustainable and responsible action, illustrating the Group's core strategy of consistently pursuing its long-term path as a sustainable partner and leading reference for sustainable chemical solutions.
