Berlin Packaging, the largest full-service supplier of glass, plastic, and metal containers and closures, announced today the acquisition of Verrerie Calvet, a packaging supplier strategically located in Aimargues, France, the heart of Southern France’s food region. Verrerie Calvet brings extensive experience in packaging for wine, spirits, olive oil, and gourmet seasonings, marinades and sauces.

Verrerie Calvet has been an important supplier of packaging for more than 20 years. Last year, the company worked with more than 1700 companies in France and across Europe. The company offers glass bottles and jars along with a wide range of metal containers, closures, and specialty boxes and bags for transporting and shipping wine and oil. The company also offers glass customization and decoration, including an in-house screen-printing service. See more at VerrerieCalvet.com.

Berlin Packaging is a $2.6 billion global supplier of rigid packaging products and services to customers of all types across all sectors. The company has a stronghold in North America, where it has operated since 1898. Berlin Packaging operates in Europe through its Bruni Glass division – with headquarters in Milan, Italy, and locations and warehouses through Italy, France, and Spain – and its Bruni Erben division – with locations and warehouses in England, Scotland, and South Africa.

Verrerie Calvet will be integrated into Berlin’s Bruni Glass organization and will be run in partnership with Bruni Glass’ team in France, which has offices outside Nice as well as two warehouses. All of the product lines that Verrerie Calvet brings are now available to all customers of Berlin Packaging, Bruni Glass, and Bruni Erben. And Verrerie Calvet customers can now benefit from the products and services that Berlin and Bruni offer, including an extensive array of glass packaging and innovation centers located on two continents.

“We are excited to become part of the Berlin Packaging family and to embrace our new Bruni Glass colleagues. I am proud of what we have built, and I know this new partnership will bring much more opportunity for our customers and employees,” said Stéphan Calvet who, along with his brother Eric, owned and operated Verrerie Calvet. The Calvet brothers will continue with the company and all Verrerie Calvet employees will also remain with the business.

Plans for investment and growth are already underway.

“Joining with Verrerie Calvet strengthens our enterprise in France and across Europe. The team is talented, and the product and service offerings are excellent. Our operations in France have grown at double-digit rates every year, and now I expect even better things for our future together,” said Paolo Recrosio, Managing Director of Bruni Glass, a Berlin Packaging company.

“Berlin Packaging has enjoyed tremendous growth in North America and Europe. As we move forward, I see so many opportunities to continue our natural growth and also to acquire the best companies in the packaging space,” added Andrew Berlin, Chairman and CEO of Berlin Packaging. “Verrerie Calvet will be another avenue for us to create jobs, as we have done already around the world.”

Verrerie Calvet marks Berlin’s ninth overall acquisition since 2010 and the third in Europe since 2016.

The acquisition of Verrerie Calvet is expected to close in the following weeks. Integration planning is already underway.
