In Jalasjärvi, there already exists a strong commitment to the environment which Pramia isexpanding. Pramia’s ownership has extended into Toholampi, Central Ostrobothnia, with apreviously owned facility processing PET plastic bottles into new materials. This will continue tooperate under the name Pramia Plastic Oy.
Strengthening
Pramia Plastic is to receive PET plastic bottle from return automats in Finland. The bottles are thenprocessed into industrial raw material, such as granulate or new plastic bottle preforms. Thisfactory will employ about 20 people and will operate around the clock, 24/7. The factory will receivedaily truckloads of recycled bottles.
”Pramia Plastic will strengthen Pramia, the mother company’s business and competitiveadvantage,” says Marko Mäkinen. “In the alcohol manufacturing side, we have long operated usingPET bottles themselves. In the future, we envision manufacturing using bottles made entirely fromrecycled materials. We have already succeeded in reducing the logistical carbon footprint ofPramia’s bottle by 70 %, compared to a glass bottle. Now we can bottle while reducing theenvironmental strain even more.
Pramia Plastic
Pramia Plastic will begin production during the early summer. In the past under the namePreformia, the firm was known primarily to serve the domestic plastic and beverage industry.Pramia Plastic will enable the recycling of plastic bottles inside of Finland. The majority of the rawmaterials are purchased from Palpa Oy. Pramia Plastic is an able world leader with the technologyto produce new bottle preforms using 100 % recycled materials. In the future, a bottle’s use lifecycle will come full circle; a new bottle reborn without the use of virgin raw materials. So far, thehighest widely-known recycled material proportions have been bottles produced using only 50 – 60% raw materials.
