Platio introduces new solar tiles

0:38 min Climate protection

Budapest based company Platio is bringing car driveways and solar power together with their new Green Energy tiles made from recycled plastic bottles.

Platio claims to be the first company to embed solar tiles in a residential driveway and offers a return of investment, allowing homeowners to invest in Green Energy solar technology and home design at the same time.

According to the firm a 20-square-meter area of these tiles can handle the yearly energy demands of an average household by allowing homeowners to reduce dependency of external energy supply and to sell excess energy.

As stated by Platio each tile is made from 400 recycled PET plastic bottles, with hardened glass around the solar cells.

Information on the firm's website gives away that their tiles are designed to be safe to walk on, without taking up valuable space. Electric car owners can also use the solar paving system to fuel their vehicles.
