Coca-Cola Europacific Partners announces its first carbon neutral manufacturing site in GB

Uxbridge, Middlesex, United Kingdom

The manufacturing site in Morpeth, Northumberland is one of six CCEP sites to be certified as carbon neutral, in line with the international PAS 2060 standard.

The site produces 10.5 million unit cases of Coca-Cola products per year. It’s the only site to produce the firm's Glaceau Smartwater brand and was the first site in GB to produce products made from 100% recycled plastic. Like all of CCEP'S sites in GB, it’s also been operating with 100% renewable electricity for over 10 years.

A few key changes have contributed to Morpeth’s carbon reductions so far – including converting the company's forklift truck vehicles from gas to lithium ion-powered, and switching all of their warehouse lighting to lower-power LEDs.

Carbon neutral certifications at the sites are just one of the ways CCEP are working towards their ambition to reach Net Zero by 2040 and reduce GHG emissions across their value chain by 30% by 2030 (vs. 2019). Sites are selected to apply for certification based on their previous carbon reductions and, once certified, will continue to work to reduce emissions year-on-year in line with PAS 2060 requirements.
